KEY FEATURE
Incentive Mechanism
DIY Teahouse
1. Enhance the fun
2. Proactively choosing healthy materials and gaining control over your own health
You can drag and drop material cards to add the materials you need, and we will also give relevant suggestions during the matching process. You can also give a name to your self-matched health tea.
Health Test
1. Let us know more about your current condition
2. Find the right health tea for you
Each question will be accompanied by a sheep animation that we have made ourselves, making it easy for users to understand. (The word for sheep in Chinese sounds similar to the word for oxygen).
Food scanning
1. Record daily diet.
2. Check the quality of your diet and suggest food combinations.
You can scan your diet, and if it's healthy, you can earn energy fluid to plant flowers; but if it high in oil or sugar, it will increase pests in the garden.
1. Help users develop healthy eating habits
2. Increase sales of health tea
You can acquire seeds by purchasing wellness tea, and then use the nutrition fluid earned from a healthy diet to water the seeds. After the seeds sprout and mature, you can earn wellness tea vouchers as a reward.
OVERVIEW
PROBLEM
"Yangsheng", or health management, has become the current craze among Chinese millennials. According to a 2021 poll conducted by CCTV, 33.27 percent of respondents in the 18 to 25 age group intend to increase their spending on health care.
But they just desire to stay healthy without making too much effort.
They sought an easy way out, through "punk health" (or "punk diet")—a desire to pursue both a healthy lifestyle and instant pleasure.
stay up late with a facial mask.
combination of eating junk foods and eating vitamin or supplement was born.
They want the best of both worlds--instant gratification and long-term health that, hopefully, dietary and nutritional supplements can provide.
CHALLENGE
How might we encourage people to maintain a healthy lifestyle in a joyful and relaxed manner?
We need to fulfill their sense of health and make them feel like they are getting healthier every day, and also make the process enjoyable for them without feeling painful or rejected, and even finding joy in it.
SOLUTION
We created a new health experience, allowing young people to DIY their own health tea and designing an incentive system for them to stick to it. Catering to people who both want to live life to the fullest and also want to live longer.
PROCESS
RESEARCH
DESK RESEARCH
The topic of health care has always been a hot topic of national concern. Health tea drinking is also on the rise in recent years.
SURVEY
I designed a questionnaire study to find out what concerns people have about their health and how receptive they are to wellness teas.
Interviews & Personas
To better guide our design and enable everyone on the team to empathize with our users, I further synthesized the interview results and came up with the following personas.
EMPATHY MAP
“I really want to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but I'm lazy and can't control myself.”
We focused on users aged between 20 and 40 who have health care needs. Through 5 interviews and more than 200 questionnaires, we came to understand the basic needs of the target user group. We created an empathy map to find the user's core pain points.
We found that our target group, the group that is passionate about wellness, is not as committed to practicing it. They don't want to have to live a miserable life to stay healthy. They don't want to give up things they enjoy.
How can we satisfy their enjoyment while still maintaining some health and developing some healthy habits?
TO SUM UP
Though the interest in health management is widely seen, the commitment to it seems less. The erratic time schedule and intense work pressure of people prompted many to seek an easy way out, through "punk health" (or "punk diet")— a term used to describe the desire to both pursue a healthy lifestyle and instant pleasure.
The health care products more suitable for the needs of the target population should be required from the following four aspects:
IDEATION
BRAINSTORMING
We held an informed brainstorming session based on the evidence gathered from user research.
Then we discussed these ideas and the feasibility of their implementation. For example, letting each user choose the ingredients for their own health tea seems like a good solution to give users a sense of control over their own bodies.
STORYBOARD
We have thought about the application scenarios of our products as follows:
DESIGN ITERATION
USER FLOW
We use user processes to help us figure out the path of user behavior, and we need to understand how to optimize and generate a better experience.
SKETCH
We started out experimenting with several page layouts and visual styles.
What's more, In our discussion, we generated new ideas. We hope that our product not only provides health products, but also gradually cultivates people's awareness and habits of healthy living. Therefore, we have added a feature. By scanning daily meals, if it is healthy, you can get rewards.
MID-FI PROTOTYPE
Following the flow chart, we created the following page and sent the first version of the page to potential users for feedback.
USABILITY TESTING
Fix problems and improve interaction design to achieve better user experience.
Here are two examples of how do we iterate:

Concept of design
The IP design for our app is a sheep, which sounds similar to "oxygen" in Chinese. High-pressure lifestyle and health issues we face often leave us feeling short of breath. Our design is to help improve these health issues through light health-promoting methods such as herbal teas, raising stronger health awareness and taking action to lead a more "oxygen-rich" and comfortable life.
Sub-health status
We have created several GIFs featuring to illustrate some common sub-healthy conditions that people often experience nowadays, with the hope of raising awareness and resonance among the public.
stomachache
chill or catch a cold
eat too much
sleepy
alopecia
eye fatigue
Auxiliary element
We also designed some images to assist and help people understand our interface and interactions
Future
Gains
·Start from the big problem of health in modern life and find the needs of subhealthy people. Analyze and solve the problem from the perspective of users, pain points and solutions.
·Establish a multi-layer feedback and incentive mechanism to enhance users' usage time and meet their needs.
·Try to start from the research and design the whole process service.
Further improvement
·Design iterations will continue to be required.
·The numerical design of the garden flower level up has not been determined yet.
