OVERVIEW
The project was initiated 49 days before the Beijing Winter Olympics. We plan to use this opportunity to create a website to raise the popularity of ice sports.
China's ice and snow events are relatively weak. In the past, people thought that ice and snow sports were unattainable, but after the Winter Olympics, they have a new understanding, and in this context, more and more snow and ice rink. In this case, through the meta-universe, we can further increase the popularity and the enthusiasm and love of ice and snow sports.
How might we make it easy and fun for users to get information about winter sports?
How can we make this community last after the Winter Olympics?

We provided a centralized and innovative online communication community for snow and ice sports fans worldwide. We added the metaverse and NFT concepts to make the community concept more avant-garde and to shape a long-term community model that can be developed and grown.

KEY FEATURE
Everyday life on an island
We have created a virtual arena on the island for each ice sport so that people who come to the community feel like they are playing in a world of ice and snow. Click on the arena to watch it live. Each guest who comes to the island has a penguin-looking avatar that can be change to dress up.
A more immersive live room+ Game room
The live room allows you to choose your seat and invite friends to watch with you. You can also give virtual flowers to the athletes and communicate with them after the game. In addition, You can learn about ice and snow sports while playing casual games in the game room.
NFT store
You can upload your own work here, either photos, videos or illustrations of ice sports. You can also buy other people's works and put them in your own collection room.
PROCESS
I actively contributed in each of the UX design stages listed below.
RESEARCH
Interview and persona
“I wish there was a platform to help me meet other winter sports fans”
in order to understand our target group and potential users, we conducted desktop research and conducted several in-depth interviews. Ultimately we divided our users into two groups, the newbies and the fanatics.
Newbies want a community where they can gather comprehensive information about ice and snow sports, while enthusiasts want a community where they can exchange their skills, improve their skills, and know where to find fun ice and snow sports offline. They all want it to be a fun place where they can watch live and communicate with each other.
User Journey
What difficulties do people encounter when they try to learn more about ice and snow sports? What do they need?
When people are intrigued by the Winter Olympics to learn about ice and snow sports, they find that useful information is scarce and scattered, and there is no comprehensive place to find what they are looking for. When they look for someone to discuss and communicate with, they can't locate anyone who will listen.
Opportunity:
The Winter Olympics get a lot of people interested in learning more about winter sports. Consequently, we can harness their fervor and help them connect with like-minded individuals.
We decided to build a virtual ice community and found several things we can do:
-
Gathering the information they want to know most and present it; classifying information and making it organized, easy to find.
-
Adding the live broadcast function and matching it to the stadium, making it easy to find the live broadcast you the users wish to watch.
-
Makinge more stuff for people to interact with. Using gaming to spread knowledge about sports.
-
Building community culture and friendly interaction.
IDEATION
Brainstorm
Prioritize the most design-relevant concepts generated during brainstorming.
Storyboard

User Flow
After confirming the basic functionality and user experience journey. We used user flow to assist us design the website information structure by determining the affiliation and jump link between pages at all levels.
Prototyping
Mid-fi UIs & prototype for testing
Design System
Sunshine, snow mountains, blue sky, Olympic rings, we hope to convey vitality and energy.
Visual Style
We finally decided on the lowpoly design. We created a blender model of the island's architecture before rendering the early morning appearance. Blue, the color associated with ice and snow, serves as our primary color. However, we also wanted to use saturated colors to give the page as a whole power and vitality.
