OVERVIEW
BACKGROUND
How can we raise awareness about the impact and waste of the clothing industry on the environment?
As technology and material costs decrease, people easily acquire a large variety of fashionable clothing. It is difficult for people to realize how high their daily carbon emissions are due to the pursuit of fashion. Pursuing fashion also makes people neglect the impact of clothing on the environment.
WHAT CAN WE DO?
We envision a "sustainable fashion" that may emerge in 2050, where clothing is biologically synthesized and tailored to the owner's carbon emissions. Different clothing will be synthesized according to your environmental level, and the synthesis speed is also determined by carbon emissions. More carbon emissions result in slower synthesis speed, while less carbon emissions result in faster synthesis speed. We hope to find the possibility of sustainable development in the clothing industry by establishing this experimental factory and seeking new changes.
IDEATION
SIGN OF THE FUTURE
Through the analysis of the future triangle model, we can predict the direction of future development and the impact of various factors on clothing production.
EXHIBITION PURPOSE
Our aim is to encourage visitors to reflect on the future of clothing and the impact of resource depletion. Through this event, we hope to raise awareness of low-carbon and sustainability issues, provoke critical thinking and a sense of crisis regarding the waste of resources caused by clothing, and promote the dissemination and resonance of our values.
INTERACTIVE PROCESS
SEEK STAKEHOLDERS
Will the shortage of raw materials due to resource depletion in the future promote the development of new energy and technological progress in the clothing manufacturing industry?
Clothing manufacturers
What will the future of clothing look like? Why will such changes occur?
Clothing buyers or users
DESIGN PROTOTYPE
Our envisioned future clothing is made of biologically grown clothing using synthetic DNA, making it capable of growth. Embryos of various shapes gradually sprout, dividing and growing into a mature garment.
PERIPHERAL
We have produced some small cards and exhibition explanations that can be distributed to participants during the exhibition.
